vertekijker Posted November 9, 2008 Share #1 Â Posted November 9, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just took out my 21mm pre-asph. and noticed that it's hood consists of two parts. These two parts seem to separate fairly easily - is this how it should be? Isn't there a danger that the second part (on the right of the photograph) will get lost? Is there a remedy for this or am I needlessly worried? I imagine that I could just glue these together, or is that a sacrilegious thing to do? Your input is much appreciated! --------------------- Frans

adan Posted November 9, 2008 Share #2 Â Posted November 9, 2008 Interesting. Leica made two different methods for attaching the 21 pre-ASPH shade. Â the latter one, like yours, used squeeze clips - the earlier bayoneted on (lens had two pins, shade had two L-shaped slots - press the shade on and rotate 30 degrees to lock the slots on the pins) Â My slot/pin-type shade is definitely one piece. Once I had your kind with a different 21, and do not recall it coming apart easily. I think glue would be OK. Â But you might also contact your local Leica repair office - or Solms - to see if they have a suggestion.
lars_bergquist Posted November 10, 2008 Share #3 Â Posted November 10, 2008 I have this lens and hood. The hood is clearly not intended to come apart. Use a couple of drops of superglue. Â The old man from the Age When We Used Our Derby Hats
vertekijker Posted November 10, 2008 Author Share #4 Â Posted November 10, 2008 Thank you Adan and Lars, Yes, I think that I'll glue them. It makes me wonder though why they ever made it that way. -------------------- Frans
