Photofox Posted December 27, 2007 Share #1 Posted December 27, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello I wonder if any of you have tried out to fit the APO extender 1,4x to the Leitz 250 mm 4,0 Telyt - second version with 67 mm filter, can they work together ?. Information of any older Leitz lens which can match to the APO extender 1,4x would also be of interest. Thank you and a happy new year from Henrik, Denmark. Photofox Posted December 30, 2007 Author Share #2 Posted December 30, 2007 hello again I guess that no one of you can answer my question, but I have found out myself: the APO 1,4x can not fit to Leitz Telyt 250 mm 4,0 - second version, filter 67 mm. Still I would like to know if fx. the Leitz Telyt 350 mm 4,8 can fit to APO 1,4x, and even any other older Leitz lens ??
glenerrolrd Posted December 30, 2007 Share #3 Posted December 30, 2007 The 1.4x fits the 280 and 400 2.8 and the newest 180APO 2.8.
telyt Posted December 30, 2007 Share #4 Posted December 30, 2007 The 1.4x fits the 280 and 400 2.8 and the newest 180APO 2.8. I have also used it with the f/6.8 Telyt lenses and with a Canon FD 400mm f/2.8 L that had been converted to Leica-R mount.
leicar7 Posted December 31, 2007 Share #5 Posted December 31, 2007 A general guideline for the 1.4x is based on its construction: the front element projects forward from the mount. Therefore, it CANNOT be mounted on any lens having a rear element located anywhere near the rear-most part of its own mount. Trying to mount the extender would instantly damage the lens's rear element and the extender's front element. For those lenses with deeply recessed rear elements, the adviseability of using the 1.4x becomes a function of the quality of the combined optics. The 2x does not have the mounting restrictions of the 1.4x, because its front element is located slightly behind the front lens mount of the extender and cannot physically interfere with the rear glass of the lens. But, again, the optical results vary with the design intentions for the extender.
Photofox Posted January 3, 2008 Author Share #6 Posted January 3, 2008 Hello Thank you all for answer, I have found out which older Leitz lenses fit with APO 1,4x: 100mm/4,0 - 180mm/2,8 - 280mm/2,8 - 400/2,8 - 800mm/6,3 - from the book: Leica lens practice by Dennis Laney. A special thank to Doug for experimenting, I like your combination with the 6,8-lenses. Are there any other photographers who have experimentet with different combinations ? Happy New Year to you all.
wildlightphoto Posted January 4, 2008 Share #7 Posted January 4, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have also used it with the f/6.8 Telyt lenses and with a Canon FD 400mm f/2.8 L that had been converted to Leica-R mount. I forgot to mention that use it most often with the 280mm f/4 APO.
