mike marlow Posted August 15, 2006 Share #1 Posted August 15, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Anybody familiar with this product - or better yet - had practical experience of it? It reads as something worth a try but before I paint my summicrons with it I really would apppreciate some feedback. http://www.caliope.co.uk/ Thanks in advance - Mike. albertwang Posted August 15, 2006 Share #2 Posted August 15, 2006 Black spit and polish eh? That's how I do it round these parts.
kdemas Posted August 15, 2006 Share #3 Posted August 15, 2006 Mike, I have used it for about a year and it works like a charm, great stuff. Just make sure you don't let it drip into lens ring (I try to stay a bit away from the edge of the lens, just in case). I highly recommend it, no risk of scratches at all. They use this stuff on astronomical telescopes and the like where they can't afford to have an issue. Enjoy! Kent

vol72 Posted August 16, 2006 Share #5 Posted August 16, 2006 I am not sure if Opticlean is still being sold in the US. It was formerly distributed by Dantronix; I believe they are no longer in business. Another polymer lens cleaner is First Contact; it is sold by Photonic Cleaning Technologies in the US. I have never used this product, but believe it to be similar to Opticlean. Photonic Cleaning Technologies
