pauledell Posted August 20, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 20, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Has anyone had an oppurtunity to use the 90mm Macro-Elmar M lens? I have an old 90mm Tele-Elmarit (Canada) that seems to be very sharp and quite acceptable but am curious as to how they stack up against each other. I am using M-6 bodies. Guest Lotw Posted August 20, 2007 Share #2 Posted August 20, 2007 It's a magnificent lens as you may see below (M8, Macro-Elmar 90, F4.0 160 ISO) Welcome, dear visitor! boilerdoc Posted August 21, 2007 Share #3 Posted August 21, 2007 The Macro is just amazing. And with the close up eyes - awesome! See Sean Reids review at http://www.reidreviews.com. waileong Posted August 22, 2007 Share #4 Posted August 22, 2007 But the two lenses serve different purposes.
pauledell Posted August 22, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted August 22, 2007 This is correct but I was referring to the Macro-Elmar being used as a general purpose telephoto lens in the same manner as the Tele-Elmarit.
ClaudioJ Posted August 22, 2007 Share #6 Posted August 22, 2007 It´s a very fine lens indeed, especially for travel. Erwin Puts had tested the lens (http://www.imx.nl/photo/lenstest/leica_macro_elmar-m1490mm.html). cJ

pauledell Posted August 23, 2007 Author Share #8 Posted August 23, 2007 Claudio Thanks for the informative link. This new lens sounds like a perfect companion with the new 28mm Elmarit f/2.8 and the 50mm Elmarit for traveling. Paul
pauledell Posted August 23, 2007 Author Share #9 Posted August 23, 2007 Klaus Forgive me. I should have said the 50mm Elmar-M . I am now using the 35mm Summicron V4, 50mm summicron, and 90mm Tele-Elmarit which I am quite happy with, but with the close-up option of the 90mm macro-Elmar, this might cause me to consider abandoning my Nikon slr. Wouldn't these lens options go well with the M8 Paul
