Apo-Extender-R 2x and Vario-Elmarit-R 2,8/35-70 mm

I had tried to use the Apo Extender with this lens. They mounted seemingly without problems and some test photos gave good results. As I had heard that there might be some incompatibilities, I contacted Leica Solms to be sure. The answer, which I reproduce here, might be of common interest: Attila von Gyimes of Leica emailed me to

 

please never use the Apo-Extender-R 2x with the Vario-Elmarit-R 2,8/35-70 mm.

 

This lens has the "Blendenmitnehmer" (the prong that transmits and activates the aperture) that is relatively long. With time the lens could be damaged and a complicated and expensive repair would be the consequence.
