jlancasterd Posted March 12, 2007 Share #1 Posted March 12, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm considering the purchase of a Macro-Elmar-R 100mm F4 as a cheaper alternative to the Apo-Macro-Elmarit-R 100mm F2.8. Its main use will be for close focus work (flowers, etc) Does anyone have experience with this lens? How good is it?
Advertisement Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Hi jlancasterd, Take a look here Macro Elmar-R 100mm F4. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
tobey bilek Posted March 13, 2007 Share #2 Posted March 13, 2007 Best used in close range. Stop to F8 for distant subjects. I returned my borrowed sample and bought the FAR better 100 APO which is sharper at any distance and stop. It is not a bad lens for its time, just not as good. rsolomon Posted March 13, 2007 Share #3 Posted March 13, 2007 i have it ... it's good , the new 100 2.8 blows it away and is GREAT
troyfreund Posted March 14, 2007 Share #4 Posted March 14, 2007 I've the lens and enjoy.. a little dark sometimes for focusing...f8 is best, yeah. Anyway, a lot cheaper alternative to the APO 2.8. I'd go for it. I"ve been real satisfied with mine, for portraits and close-ups. Troy
