I have a Leica M6 classic titanium and would like to put an MP style film advance lever on my M6. Does anyone know how I can find a matching film advance lever, is the lever from the MP anthracite the same color as the M6 titanium and can I obtain/order such a part from Leica?

You can definitely order M3 style advance levers (I have ordered two M6J advance levers that will fit my M6TTL).
But I do not know about the colour (mine were black paint). Regards Oliver |

There was a special TITAN-LEICA-M edition two years ago. For that camera they were forced to make titan-transportlevers.
But I´am afraid, as a sparepart this item might cost you US$ 200. It is made from full material and not just coloured. It might have the plastic-bit on it which you like to avoid. I´ll have a look at the photograph of the camera to check ... Ask the Customer Service in SOLMS. They will help you if they can. Best Last edited by k_g_wolf : 02/10/07 at 10:29 AM. |

Well, it´s an M7, appeared in 2004, but the lever is of the type you already have on your camera.
Your chance might be to change your camera into a PANDA. Get all the levers you want in black, than you can also have the M3/ MP- type lever ... Best |

Thanks Oliver and Karl for your response.
Its interesting to note that the M6J advance levers work on the M6TTL as well without causing damage. The M7 titanium sounds too costly at around USD$200, money better spent towards a viewfinder upgrade .I think I shall try to contact customer service at Solms to see if they are able to help. Best Regards Yann |

Yann,
the M3 style advance lever for the M6J is a special version that does have a little wider curve on the inside to deal with the bigger time wheel of the M6J and TTL. It is much cheaper than an original M3/M2 lever (about 30 Euros against I guess 80). The difference is that little, that I will use that black paint lever on a black paint M2 (not original). I changed my M6 classic's winding lever into M3 winding lever six months ago.
The service came from Leica AG in Germany. The part of M3 winding lever is cost EUR 40.62. Best Regard, Last edited by rlocus_kan : 02/12/07 at 05:20 PM. |
