dickgrafixstop Posted May 10, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 10, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm looking for a versatile shoulder bag for a small kit. Has anyone used (or is familiar with) a French line called "sac du berger" photo shepherd's bag? It looks interesting as a replacement for my domke. Welcome, dear visitor! wda Posted May 11, 2010 Share #3 Posted May 11, 2010 dickgraphixstop, just search for bags in the forum and you will find very many alternative solutions. I took advantage of one such discussion and am extremely pleased with my Artisan & Artists ACAM 3000 for my everyday use with a Leica M8, two lenses and my Leica X1. It is pliable, protective, unobtrusive and most important of all, accessible. The latter was the deficiency with many otherwise good alternatives. borowiec Posted May 11, 2010 Share #4 Posted May 11, 2010 I've been using those French shepherd bags since the late 1970s when I bought my first one at a hunting store in Arles. Some years ago my bag finally wore out after 20+ years of hard use but the hunting store was no longer in business. Luckily I was able to track down the bag's maker, Lars Fisher, who lives in the Var department in southern France, in the village of Flayosc. One day when I was in the area I drove there and found a huge selection of models among which I was able to select the perfect bag to hold my MacPro. I stopped using Lars's bags for cameras when I stopped using film, as the one I have is too big for my needs but the next time I'm in the Var I will go see him to buy a smaller bag for my M9. These bags are terrific, very well made, very durable, and very attractive. I often get complete strangers coming up to me and asking where I got the bag.
