Frankly, its polycarbonate barrel appeals as a welcome weight-saving factor considering an SL + 21/4 Super Angulon + 35-70 Vario Elmar adds up to 1600g. I cannot recall if this lens was supplied with R contacts only or if it indeed was a 3-cam lens so it could be used on Leicaflex models. Does this imply that the 66gram lighter German version of the 35-70/3.5 Vario-Elmar might have some polycarbonate too ? Or (more likely I suppose) the Angenieux lens has more glass in it.
