dpattinson Posted November 17, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 17, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Bought a SF58 flash unit on Friday. Have been playing over the weekend and I'm very happy with it. One interesting feature is the Test Light function, where the unit strobes really quickly for about 3 seconds to provide the equivalent of a modeling light. I found that I can hand hold the flash and take a normal exposure while illuminating the subject.
Advertisement Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Hi dpattinson, Take a look here SF58 "test light" function. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
rob_x2004 Posted November 17, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 17, 2009 Interesting to see some work with it. There was a really nice shot posted somewhere jsut using TTL and dialing down the direct, fabulous for point and squirt. (Someone chimed in that the 24 would do just as good go figure:rolleyes:) Wouldnt replace my 24 for travel but looked seriously decent for when you can carry the gear. Whats the Metz equivalent or has it been tweaked?
dpattinson Posted November 17, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted November 17, 2009 Here's one using the flash off camera with the 'Test Light' function. You can see that the exposure was 1/60 at f1.4 and 2500iso, this is across the table with me holding the flash unit up and to the left. rob_x2004 Posted November 17, 2009 Share #4 Posted November 17, 2009 Certainly got potential. Got to be pretty critical to start pointing out faults. And you've only just started using the thing. I reckon its pretty impressive.
