  1. Tried this, it’s definitely not anything on the lens.
  2. I meant lens cloth as in camera lens, not eyeglass but good recommendation. Yeah I use it. Seems a little flare-y, like that chlorine in the eye effect you get with some old Russian lenses. Not terrible but not super sharp like it use to be.
  3. Could be computer screen cleaner as that’s the only cleaner I would use on those lens clothes (usually separate screen and lens but could be a mixup). Possibly windex at some point if I got lazy with the computer cleaner. It’s really weird since I’ve been a lot more brutal to old, cheap non-leica lenses and have never seen coating come off. Maybe it’s scratches but can’t see having something that gritty hanging on my clothes. Not sure I’d trust myself to redcoat a lens but wonder if Leica can do it. thanks for feedback
  4. This happened during a while ago but wanted to see if anyone else can recognize what happened. I’m leaning towards the coating being wiped up but never seen it happen before. I remember wiping the lens with a lens cloth in really humid conditions and it just came off. Probably some kind of containment on the cloth.
  5. IT'S FIXED! From all your responses I gathered that it probably was the battery and not the camera. After doing research online I saw that once a lithium ion battery is drained completely that it won't always charge back up again without some finagling. I waited til the charger said it was fully charged like it had before (when nothing happened when turning on camera) unplugged it and basically just plugged it back in again and it started flashing that it was charging. This time it actually filled the battery and the camera powered up! Thanks everyone:)
  6. Thanks. I figured as much. I don't have another battery unfortunately . I'm pretty sure. the camera will turn on without SD card installed, you'll just keep getting the "no SD card" pop up screen so I have my doubts it has to do with that. I'm thinking letting the battery die out completely while in the camera probably is what triggered it.
  7. Hey So I just charged my S2 after a couple months of not using it and nothing happens. No LCD display on top, blank rear screen and no exposure data in view finder. The only thing that does happen is the red light on the bottom left (flashes when camera is processing) blinks a few times when turned on or when I push the shutter button. Which means I know the camera has power. Anyone else run into this problem? I fear it means the S2's CPU is broken or something similar. Really weird. Was working perfectly fine last time I used it. I formatted the card and I'll even briefly get a " no SD card" popup on the menu if I turn on the camera without it inserted.
  8. I want to use the SL in conjunction with a motion control rig. This rig allows the camera to do time lapse while in motion but in order for it to line up perfectly the rig needs to control the camera with a shutter release cable. With the SL's new proprietary multi use jack there is no cable provided by the rig company that will allow me to do this. My question is this; if I buy the SL audio adapter and connect a standard release cable to the adapters 3.5mm port, will that trigger the cameras shutter? If not, do you have any other suggestions? Thanks!
  9. We had the same exact setup. Kept the Q (of course) and the T. I love the T, one of the most misunderstood cameras and at the same time a work of art.
  10. Where is this magical place?! You rarely see a walkway and structure sitting water level with an open ocean (assuming it is) like this. Pretty darn interesting. As far as processing, purely preferential. Some people love ripping all three levels and some don't.
  11. Time lapse and adjustable shutter speed for video. Leica SL allows you to control all three levels of exposure in video but the Q still has a fixed shutter speed. I know heating issues were why they chose not to go 4K with the Q but not sure if that extends to multiple frame rates as well. As much video customization as possible would be welcome.
  12. Same this popped out to me. Leica only uses 3:2. Weird mistake. I never looked at that site to make a decision about anything. Like taking a record and telling me all the instruments used to make the music but never actually tells me what the music sounds like. I should temper that statement with the fact that there are tons sites that take the latter into consideration but not many that do what DxO does.

  14. I've used(rented) the A7SII for a month to work on a film project and I was disappointed. The quality of the video was not what I hoped for. The 4K didn't seem like 4K quality (opinion) and 120 fps only available at 720p (fact). Lastly the camera itself was frustrating to use with its small size and endless menus. Previously I also owned a pocket cinema camera from Black Magic. That camera was so terrible I almost threw it in the Sein. The quality of the video was good because you have so much dynamic range to work with (like 13 stops) but the camera itself was hair pulling unless you had it hooked up to a rig with a monitor and even then the tiny sensor made using anything but the widest lenses a chore. I tried the GH4 for a few days and it really is the camera every one claims it to be. I just couldn't get behind the 2x crop on my lenses and the lack of a high fps. At that point I was stuck because there is really nothing else out there unless you want to step up to the next level of camera and even most of those are lacking in some way or another. It's not until you get to the ARRI and RED cameras that you don't have to make compromises except in the wallet and I definitely wasn't at that level of commitment. Then the SL came out and pretty much solved all my problems. Leica brand/full frame/1080 120FPS plus filling all my photographic needs. Of course it took me a while to figure out I should ditch all my current cameras to buy the SL but eventually I did and I'm really happy about it so far. The video is gorgeous straight out of the camera, much better then the other cameras I tried. Considering film productions were falling all over themselves to shoot movies and commercials with the Canon 5D when it first came out and the SL bests that thing fairly easily, I'd say there's not much you couldn't do with it. (Short of trying to film the next Star Wars or Avatar;) Hi johnloumiles, what has been your experience shooting video? Are you able to compare it to other options for shooting video (like Sony)? Thanks.
