earleygallery Posted November 12, 2009 Share #265 Posted November 12, 2009 Right. Ruling on the Leica kit issue is as follows, and thanks to Virgil and others for helping to clarify it in my mind. Since this is a book inspired by, and showcasing the work of the contributors to, the Leica User Forum we will abide by the already-existing Forum rule as follows: For the avoidance of doubt, this includes the use of Leica lenses on third party bodies, Leica lenses on Leica partner cameras (e.g. Panasonic) and the use of third party lenses on Leica bodies. In general, photographs taken without the use of Leica equipment are not permitted. Ok? Regards, Bill Rules as per the forum rules - it was amended later in the thread. earleygallery Posted November 12, 2009 Share #266 Posted November 12, 2009 ------i would suggest that lenses other than leica be permitted. see above

wparsonsgisnet Posted November 13, 2009 Share #269 Posted November 13, 2009 ... Update time.... Donations[/b][/u]: Just to be clear (I have had a couple of PMs on the subject) If you enter an image you will be required to donate 10 euros/pounds/dollars. There is a cap of 3 images per person, so that is a maximum outlay of 30, er, things. Entry does not guarantee that your image will be printed in the final book. If your image or images do not make the cut you will not get your donation back - this is for charity, after all.... Bill, I think all the "things" should have roughly equal value. If we are to use PayPal, then there is no problem with different currencies, but let's have something like 10 Pounds or 15 Euros or 20 USDollars, and the like -- or just make it 10 Euros in PayPal and conversion will be done for the submitter. Anyone can join PayPal for the purpose of sending money and there is no cost to that person. That is, the project will eat the fees fhat PayPal charges. Bo_Lorentzen Posted November 14, 2009 Share #270 Posted November 14, 2009 Great idea - count me in. PayPal is good. .
andybarton Posted November 14, 2009 Share #271 Posted November 14, 2009 The donation to charity and the method of donating are now sorted and will be announced at the appropriate time. The project is now starting to gather momentum and the details will be announced as soon as everything is in place.
SJP Posted November 15, 2009 Share #272 Posted November 15, 2009 Presumably the picture reviewing board will reject all (domestic) cat pictures out of hand which will severely limit my contributions. The cats are unhappy today.
alman1 Posted November 16, 2009 Share #273 Posted November 16, 2009 PayPal is good. Definitely... I would not say Paypal is good, it is simple to use. There should be some choice for payment for those who don't like the idea of using evil to finance good.
stunsworth Posted November 16, 2009 Share #274 Posted November 16, 2009 We will not be using Paypal, the donations will go directly to the chosen charity.
alman1 Posted November 16, 2009 Share #275 Posted November 16, 2009 We will not be using Paypal, the donations will go directly to the chosen charity. Great :-) Because I remember what they did with some Katrina hurricane donations, just frozen $20k, due to "suspicious behavior", scary... andybarton Posted November 16, 2009 Share #276 Posted November 16, 2009 The charity website that we will be using has a variety of payment methods open to all. Paypal may be one of them, but the usual VISA/Mastercard methods are definitely there too.

Guest user9293 Posted November 24, 2009 Share #279 Posted November 24, 2009 Sorry, I've seen this thread now first time (and I don't want to read all comments). How far is this project? I think Sandy ( http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/landschaft-reise/69287-sandy.html ) would be a nice picture for this book.
andybarton Posted November 24, 2009 Share #280 Posted November 24, 2009 The project has started today, and the thread with all the details of how to submit photographs is here http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/customer-forum/107183-leica-user-forum-book-contributions-sought.html and here, in German http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-kundenforum/107237-das-leica-user-forum-buch-eure.html
