Her wit and attention for the moment is inspiring. Here is her story: http://www.vivianmaier.com/film-finding-vivian-maier/
Advertisement Posted February 28, 2020 Posted February 28, 2020 Hi Biplano, Take a look here Inspirational Photographers- B&W. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
willeica Posted February 28, 2020 Share #342 Posted February 28, 2020 The film 'Finding Vivian Maier' is well worth seeing in its entirety. I was also at an exhibition of photos by Maier at last year's London Photo Festival in Somerset House which included works not seen in the film. Her work was even more impressive 'in the flesh'. Apparently a lot more of her work has yet to be seen. Her life's work shows that you don't have to be a hippy street photographer or a loudmouth pushy studio type to be a great photographer. There is a lesson in there for all photographers. William

gfweir Posted April 22, 2020 Share #347 Posted April 22, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Paul Fusco's name has been mentioned a couple of times, yet somehow didn't quite manage to make it into any of the excel sheets I have been inspired by him and his work for many years, especially his essay on Kentucky miners, https://www.icp.org/browse/archive/objects/georges-branch-kentucky and Chernobyl https://pro.magnumphotos.com/Asset/-2S5RYDIGOL2A.html We met several years ago and we were both in tears as we hugged goodbye...yeah, a real inspiration. I was glad to see William Gedney's name included here, stunning work; http://walkyourcamera.com/looking-at-appalachia-william-gedney-part-one/ I came across a copy of "What Was True" in a bookstore in Brooklyn ten or twelve years ago and it it one of my most valued books Tish Murtha, http://www.tishmurtha.co.uk/photograph-gallery.html yet more stunning work.
Steve Ricoh Posted July 3, 2020 Share #348 Posted July 3, 2020 Hiroyuki Ito, a leica analogue man no less... might be of interest to some. https://www.anatomyfilms.com/hiroyuki-ito-leica-film-at-nyt/ 2
Steve Ricoh Posted July 10, 2020 Share #349 Posted July 10, 2020 Frank Horvat https://www.anatomyfilms.com/frank-horvat-still-rockin/ His interest photographically is creating metaphors, not simply recording what the eye sees behind the camera. To him the latter is boring. Recommend watching the video (towards the bottom of the page).

Mr.Prime Posted January 20, 2021 Share #351 Posted January 20, 2021 (edited) great thread, just started to look through - there are a lot of great photographers, most I have no prior knowledge of. First one I picked was Garry Winogrand, followed the link. Saw some nice photos, browsing through one of the links to some of his work, until I saw this shot...it just slammed me into the wall and left me helpless... What is quite striking is that she was very conservative many / most of the photos were one shot it seems, then moving onto another location / day / week or whatever it may have been for the next frame. I found this extremely impressive
