After too much time with this (full of bubbles and obscuring the view,

even with a careful application) :

ZAGG | invisibleSHIELD | Leica M8 Cases, Screen Protectors, Covers, Shields, Skins, Invisible Shield

I use now this :

ACMAXX Products

No hassle applying it on screen, no bubble, no contact

with the screen itself and thick enough to withstand shock.

Thought it could be useful to many, now that Leica wrote off the sapphire glass on the M9.

Your timing is perfect! I caught the edge of my Zagg protector (The bubbly one!) today on clothing, lifting one corner from the screen. It will not now re-adhere. On fitting the ACMAXX protector will it allow a 'second chance' if you mis-align?

I bought of these for my Canon 5D MKII. Incredible service I had them in four days!!!

From Hong Kong to Spain... via standard post. 20.000 km.

This was not luck as I ordered separatly 2 weeks apart, and in both cases I had them this fast.

Thanks for the info - the "new" screen looks good!!

I've never been happy with Zagg on M8 and DL4, the AcMaxx seems like a great alternative.

A few questions -

1. How easy was it to peel off the "old" Zagg film?

2. Did you have to use a hair-dryer?

3. Was there any adhesive residue that you had to clean off?

4. If so, what cleaning chemical/solution (ie. Goo Gone or Goof Off) did you use?

Thanks :)

A few answer :

1. I just pulled and off it went. My advice : gently nudge it from one corner of the screen so as not to put unnecessary strain.

2. No.

3. Nothing. All the contrary, pulling it off acted as cleaning, perfect to apply the ACmaxx afterwards.

Applying the ACmaxx was a breeze : as it's rigid, you just peel the protective film and apply it firmly on screen. Contrary to ZAGG, no flimsy spray on your fingers or shield.

And in fact it's just the rim of the ACmaxx which is adhesive, not the center of it.

One application, and that's it.

It's absolutely transparent, I forget I have a protection on my screen.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply!!!!

Think I'll order some and give them a try :)

You're welcome, Monseigneur.

The only regret : they don't do the DLux-4 size (at least, last time I checked).

They do now.

BTW thanks very much for the tip; My M8 screen is after a year already starting to show some superficial scratches. I have ordered it immediatly.

Cheers,

Peter.
