Disadvantage--it cuts slightly into the visible spectrum; fixable with a profile adjustment in your RAW converter. Advantages: Since it's absorptive, it doesn't have the 'red-eye' effect that worries some people (though in fact, I think that effect is much less noticeable than they assume). Since it's absorptive, it doesn't produce cyan corners with wide angles.
