For wide angle lenses, consider using the B+W 489, which has been mentioned dismissively a number of times.

 

Disadvantage--it cuts slightly into the visible spectrum; fixable with a profile adjustment in your RAW converter.

 

Advantages:

 

Since it's absorptive, it doesn't have the 'red-eye' effect that worries some people (though in fact, I think that effect is much less noticeable than they assume).

 

Since it's absorptive, it doesn't produce cyan corners with wide angles.

 

Since it isn't sexy, it costs less (though not by much) than the 486.
