September 9th Draws Near...

If it's still in the M tradition (RD-1 even more so) I'll be very interested. If the M dimentions are too far off and the M8 is closer to a film M, I think I'll stick with my M8. Should be interesting either way though.

I was looking at some of my framed prints shot with the M8 yesterday and thinking "these are really good, I love what I see." The M8 has been the most satisfying camera I have ever owned regardless of its limitations.

I couldn't agree more. I enjoy using my Nikons and relish the excellent image quality they help me obtain but the Leicas have been the most satisfying to use at many levels.

I have to say I am very curious and somewhat excited to see what 9/9/9 brings, even though I won't be in the market for any Leica digital cameras until at least two years from now.

I'm sure by Summer of 2011, things will look very different then, hopefully I won't be broke from my project, LOL!

I share exactly the same sentiment - curiosity with no buying mood.

"Good morning! A little bird told me that Leica is up to something today!"

Via Leica AG twitter:

Leica Camera AG (leica_camera) on Twitter

I am not familiar with twitter, but this it not an official Leica twit? Looks more to me as someone is talking about Leica, not from Leica?

Ok, so it's a hint that we should expect something from Leica today? Strange

I just wish they'd just get on with it. This forum is like a wound-up spring...

Reminds me of the bill-board advertising campaign in France a few years ago:

Day 1, picture of a gorgeous looking woman, "tomorrow, I'm taking off my top"

Day 2, picture of same woman, topless, "tomorrow, I'm taking off the rest"

Day 3, picture of same women, naked, turned around, "XXXX, l'afflicheur who keeps its promises!".

Maybe they are simply saying they ARE on Twitter an want people know it...

the pingpoing and selfreferencing on the Net are normal biz...

Leica use Twitter about once a fortnight. No formal announcements will be made via that route of course, but little snippets to stop people falling asleep at the wheel..

Probably not on the English side, because the web-cast will be in German.

Google translation:

Leica has written with its high-quality cameras and lenses again history.

These were and are all innovations and developments in its long history

measured on a single standard for uncompromising quality for a unique perfect

Picture. Be on the 9th September at the live webcast here if a new Leica

Chapter opens in photography and witness the unveiling of the next generation

I think it's the "official global launch" of the S2, the first stop of its North American (or global) road show is scheduled in Toronto on 11/09. I've registered myself for the event, not sure if I can make it or they'll have a camera to let everyone to play with though.

You guys looking at the M9 probably will get disappointed ... hope not.

I doubt it. The M9 is pretty much Leica's worst kept secret and I'm not sure why so many are still sceptical about it being available next month.

Probably, Ian ... but the S2 launch is more significant, no?

My dealer was actually not in Canada, when I asked him about the M9, he told me Leica will launch a special edition MP set exclusively for China market instead ... Gold.
