Marquinius Posted July 12, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 12, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thüringen, july 2009. Hiking country. Trees, lots of them. You can get seriously lost in these woods if you wander off the paths. M8/CV35
Advertisement Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Hi Marquinius, Take a look here into the woods. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
RPS Posted July 12, 2009 Share #2 Posted July 12, 2009 Lovely scenery / lovely images. Nice work. Thanks for sharing.
pauledell Posted July 13, 2009 Share #3 Posted July 13, 2009 Marco, Great landscapes. Well presented with tones, clarity and composition. Paul
allamande Posted July 13, 2009 Share #4 Posted July 13, 2009 Marco, these are astonishingly beautiful images. Ece
vdb Posted July 13, 2009 Share #5 Posted July 13, 2009 I like them as well. Though they might benefit from a slight increase in contrast.
stuny Posted July 13, 2009 Share #6 Posted July 13, 2009 Marco - A lovely series, but #2 is superb, especially for the repeating linearity.
Marquinius Posted July 13, 2009 Author Share #7 Posted July 13, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Robert, Paul, Ece, Stuart: as always appreciate your attention and comments! Virgil: I think you're right now that I see them as Jpegs. In DNG and on my (calibrated) Mac they're much richer and deeper. I thought about doing them in colour, but than the colours would be the eye catcher and not the lines and structure. Oh well, something new to worry about
azzo Posted July 13, 2009 Share #8 Posted July 13, 2009 #2 #3 .... Beautifully composed ! Lovely work throughout Marco.
Marquinius Posted July 13, 2009 Author Share #9 Posted July 13, 2009 Ivan, What catches my eye everytime, is the way those trunks stand tall and straight. Almost unnatural.
soleforeal Posted July 13, 2009 Share #10 Posted July 13, 2009 Really well done. The atmosphere is beautiful and in number 2 the reflection is stunning. It looks like an amazing place where the trees can flourish.
Marquinius Posted July 13, 2009 Author Share #11 Posted July 13, 2009 It looks like an amazing place where the trees can flourish. yep, without leaving too many scars, they do up to 40 milion cubic meters of building wood every year .... half of all the wood in Germany, I'm told The biggest difference I saw with for instance the US, is they spot cut throughout these woods and leave the structure "as is". Which means you can walk for days without leaving the woods and the only thing you will spot is stumps in between the rest of the trees. Marquinius Posted July 14, 2009 Author Share #13 Posted July 14, 2009 Marco, I much enjoyed these. One can tell you are much at home & serene in these environs. Well, so much that my wife and I are planning to go and live there in a couple of years. We're looking around, so to speak.
luigi bertolotti Posted July 14, 2009 Share #14 Posted July 14, 2009 Nice all, but #2 is exceptional... really do you plan to live there ? I admit I didn't know it's such a beautiful place for woods & nature... to me, Thuringen has been always a legendary place for its link with JS Bach... one of my dreams is, someday, to listen to a Matthaus Passion performing there. Bertje Posted July 14, 2009 Share #15 Posted July 14, 2009 Marco, very nice. Composition #3 I like very much. Groet,
Marquinius Posted July 27, 2009 Author Share #16 Posted July 27, 2009 @ Luigi: I didn't get to listen to Bach, although there were plenty of opportunities. But this was a hiking vacation, so to speak. @Bertje: I simply love those straight lines and will always try to capture them.
samwells Posted July 27, 2009 Share #17 Posted July 27, 2009 Marco: There is a lovely mathematical, fugue-like progression in the second and third shots...superb. cheers: Sam
Marquinius Posted July 27, 2009 Author Share #18 Posted July 27, 2009 @Sam: hmmm, must be that Bach walked around these forests
