adrienbjo Posted July 12, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 12, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi! I just inhertited a Leica camera that my grandad bought in 1957. I have problems identifying it. The number on it says Nr.827676. I have three lenses with it 3,5cm, 5cm and 9cm and a 3,5cm viewfinder. Can anyone help me identifyng it? Are there any links to guides to use it?

Shootist Posted July 12, 2009 Share #2 Posted July 12, 2009 Well a picture would help!!! It's probably a III (3) G or something in that range. The lenses are screw mounts? Yes or No? In other words they have threads on them where they attach to the camera.
@bumac Posted July 12, 2009 Share #3 Posted July 12, 2009 It should be a Leica IIIg. Look here: Summilux - Numéros de série
adrienbjo Posted July 12, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted July 12, 2009 Yes, it has a screwmount. By pictures I can find online it seems to be a IIIG yes. I have problems with the backwind, as the aperature knob (?) does not seem to go round correctly when I push the releaser. Are there any guides for this camera? Is it a common Leica camera? Shootist Posted July 12, 2009 Share #5 Posted July 12, 2009 Yes it is a very common Leica camera. The III was made from, I think, before WW2, or just after and the II was made before WW2, until around the end of the 50's. There are numerous website you can get info from. Just do a google search for Leica III (3).

Michael Hiles Posted July 15, 2009 Share #8 Posted July 15, 2009 You camera appears to be a IIIg from 1956. Very desirable camera, last of the screw mount cameras. Not the same as a III from before WWII.
