vdb Posted July 11, 2009 Share #2 Posted July 11, 2009 A soft, gentle portrait with a touch of apprehension from both subjects. Well done.
stuny Posted July 11, 2009 Share #3 Posted July 11, 2009 Digby - It's difficult for me to get beyond the need of post processing on this otherwise fun shot. Here's a start, and I encourage you to work on the original file, perhaps even rescanning.
thompsonkirk Posted July 11, 2009 Share #4 Posted July 11, 2009 I'm puzzled & curious: could you explain what portrait effect you were aiming for with the red filter & the pushed ISO?
digbyhp Posted July 11, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted July 11, 2009 Thanks Stuart, I like your rework much better. I think its much closer to original negative, and gets rid of that black mark. Will have to work harder on my pp skills, especially with high-contrast pics which scanners seem to want to even out. Thompson, The high ISO is an experiment for me in seeing what Tri-X would do when pushed, as I love grain. The filter is another experiment, I just happened to have it on when this shot came up, but it is really intended for bringing out contrast in skies, so a portrait is not its strength. thompsonkirk Posted July 13, 2009 Share #6 Posted July 13, 2009 But the Rodinal is Right On, for lovers of grain! Kirk
