spylaw4 Posted July 10, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 10, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Got to fondle this little beauty this morning. Practicality be dam**d - it really does look very very good. The only jarring note is that the box for the UV/IR filter still has the standard black label - no matching white label - shame! scaryink Posted July 10, 2009 Share #3 Posted July 10, 2009 Definitely the camera Ill be taking to my next shoot at the gay pride festival. Here is a cute little number I shot last month while in Columbus OH at the gay pride rally. Wouldn't he/she look great with that sexy kit slung over her shoulder? Be still my bleating heart. george + Posted July 10, 2009 Share #4 Posted July 10, 2009 Goes well with a white tuxedo. And it presumably takes the same pictures.
wilfredo Posted July 10, 2009 Share #5 Posted July 10, 2009 It looks like this camera will have great appeal as a fashion accessory. I'm wondering what it would cost if a hollow version were made available, just a Leica shell with nothing inside? All kidding aside, I get the feeling that this silly Leica marketing technique is really starting to annoy the loyal Leica following.
like_no_other Posted July 10, 2009 Share #6 Posted July 10, 2009 All kidding aside, I get the feeling that this silly Leica marketing technique is really starting to annoy the loyal Leica following. Are you sure about that? My impression is that Leica photographers are getting more tolerant. They start to like tasteful white but reject military green. And, please stop showing these photos of the white M8 or I will have to buy one.

Maybe it's not a matter of tolerance, but rather smart investing. I wish I has bought Leica special editions rather than the stocks I "invested" in this past year or so. If Leica comes out with a purple model with pink polka dots, I'll be the first in line.
storybrown Posted July 10, 2009 Share #8 Posted July 10, 2009 Well, it's very beautiful, doubtless (I love looking at it), even seductive in a consumerist kind of way (or whatever kind of way), and surely it is the consummate apotheosis of . . . something, but I'm sorry a previous poster edited out his comment about seriousness & Leica today, for I think he was prolly onto something. That said, I confess an irrational desire for a complete R3 Safari set, with case . . . For what? Because. And I'm a serious kind of fellow.

AlanG Posted July 10, 2009 Share #14 Posted July 10, 2009 Alan you are holding the best white camera!... No that's not me. They wanted me to look like an American - Uncle Sam. It was a regular chrome and black leather Leica - I just updated it so it could be for "today." I bet you didn't know that they made a limited edition of "Full Plate" M3s. I bet they're worth something now.
