Virgil,

Thank you for your kind words.

I took this shot while visiting my daugher who goes to school in New Haven. I just that morning acquired this camera from Tamarkin Camera, located a few miles up the road in Woodbridge. This particular shot was only about the third image I took with the camera -- hadn't even figured out how to activate the RAW settings, so I have this image only in JPEG.

A beautiful composition of many planes.

It made me think about the way the environment in which students study architecture could end up influencing the buildings they later design. In this sense this is not only a gripping photograph, but a gripping building.

Paul, Michael, Kirk, Bert -- thank you all for taking the time to visit and comment. I appreciate your words.

Kirk -- architecture buildings generally are designed with that idea in mind. However, in my experience, the students spend so much time there during their course of study that, by the time they graduate, many no longer appreciate the quality of the space in which they've spent some many of their formative years.

The design of this particular building has been quite controversial over the years -- prior to its most recent renovation, it was considered by many to be "brutal' in its design. The building actually suffered a serious fire in 1969 -- while the cause of the fire was never determined, many suspect it was set by a disgruntled student.
