M8.2, 50 mm lux, f4 and processed in capture one .

I have now decided to get rid of my canon and just shoot on these portrait assignments with my M8 . it's so much nicer and more relaxed then having a SLR ... the glass is superb and the results speak for themselves. Antje is a designer and this was taken for a magazine coverage of her work .

Hope you like it .

Armin,

Beautiful woman caught in most lovely light and colours.

My 'problem' with this image is the cropped hand and fingers and that part of a knee showing.

Please, take this as constructive criticism and nothing else.

You may feel more relaxed with an M8, but the sitter seems extremely tense and nervous. The partial hand and knee reinforce this feeling: is that the effect you were aiming for?

You have indeed caught her beauty and I like the cool colouring. However, as just posted she does not look at ease and she deserves to. You may of course have wanted the tension, in which case it will be perfect for you.

The hand and knee presumably is a framing issue. The background would suit me better if it was toned down or less 'manufactured'.

Overall a very pleasing capture and thanks for sharing it.

leica photographers definitely have an unfair advantage when comparing with the japanese slr. sure, i can still take a bad shot quite often, but when you get it right, there is no comparison.

i love this photo. NOTHING about it is wrong. lovely shot.

I do agree with some of you regarding the sitter, she was rather nervous, and having the art director from Vogue UK right next to her telling her how to pose didn't help . In fact I think using my Leica was a rather relaxing experience and I use it again that's for sure.

Now some of you didn't like the tight crop and thats fair we all see our subjects differently. I like to compose very tight and intimately , therefore cropping is part of the game . ;):D:)

Great image and having swapped all my Canon DSLR kit for my M8 recently I agree with you - I too have noticed that people are far more relaxed when facing the M8 than they were with a large DSLR in front of them.

It is fine for people to criticise the pose and crop, however, if the image is required for a magazine article, quite often the lower part of the image will have text over it so the hand crop and knee are not an issue - the editor of Vogue obviously knew what end result she wanted and this image was driven by that.

If you want them to keep using you commercially, you have to do what they want - basic rules of commercial bread and butter.
