Thanks very much. Glad you liked the pictures and I agree that there is always something to find that makes for an interesting picture, even just walking in the garden. I have never seen that type of caterpillar before and I am interested to know what it will be when it grows up.

Simon - I think the caterpillar will become a moth - most of the hairy ones do. There are loads of UK moths, but this caterpillar looks as if it will become a vapourer moth (orgyia antiqua). See:
