Now, after plenty of use (and a fair amount of 'street' use) I am quite sure that the silver is LESS visible than the black. It makes you look like a genteel hobbyist with a harmless old German camera, whereas on the rare occasions I see the black version it only looks 'stealth' in the way that Darth Vader's costume look 'stealth' - in other words it looks very modern, expensive, designer-y and therefore 'says' very different things about the person holding it. Â All IMHO but if I were to get a second body I would not even consider the black even thought I think it looks gorgeous and more 'wantable' than the silver! Me? I'm still not convinced, and if mine doesn't come back soon. . . . .Someone is going to be ringing up saying 'Your Black Leica has Arrived' (I seem to have got to the top of a list).  The last thing I want is to look like a genteel hobbyist (even though it might be hard to avoid). Now that I can compare my black M7 to my silver M8, I have to say that I really favor the silver. Â Someone else mentioned that the silver was actually more stealthy -- I'd have to agree. While shooting for work a few weeks ago with the M8, someone asked me why I was still shooting with a film camera.
