jplomley Posted May 13, 2009 Share #6 Posted May 13, 2009 Nice capture Ben. Don't you love the fear instilled by the media. My wife is a molecular biologist and she just rolls her eyes at the nonsense the media spews.
semrich Posted May 13, 2009 Share #7 Posted May 13, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ben, I saw this yesterday and it has been on my mind. The title, just one word, in this case is bigger than the photo, the photo and your well chosen comment make it palpable. Jeff's remark helped, I was at risk of a tirade about the media. Now, I can just leave a well know, but forgotten (especially the meaning) quote: "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself" - Franklin D. roguewave Posted May 13, 2009 Author Share #8 Posted May 13, 2009 Martin, Bo, Tom, Marco, Jeff & Richard, thanks for your insightful comments. With everything around us becoming less predictable, fear has an opportunity to reassert it self in subtle ways. This was the first time I had seen anyone in Harlem with a mask on. There were 2 cases of swine flu reported by Columbia University students in Morningside, but no further indications of other infections. Most of the residents here are accustom to a live of adversity so this stood out in relief.
