newyorkone Posted November 1, 2006 Share #21 Posted November 1, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks Roberto...and nice shots in the review BTW. Quick question. Is it possible to turn on and off the vignetting correction for coded lenses? Sometimes vignetting can actually add drama to a shot. Thanks again. wparsonsgisnet Posted November 1, 2006 Share #25 Posted November 1, 2006 Thanks Roberto...and nice shots in the review BTW. Quick question. Is it possible to turn on and off the vignetting correction for coded lenses? Sometimes vignetting can actually add drama to a shot. Thanks again. Based on what I read (since the stupid camera hasn't arrived yet, but don't think I'm antsy about it) in Sean's reviews, the lens intelligence in the camera is all-or-none. If you have coded lenses, you can enable (1) lens recognition and (2) vignetting correction -- both at the same time. I believe this means that if you turn off the recognition in order to avoid the vignetting correction, then the camera doesn't record the lens used, even tho it could do so. If this is correct, then I suggest Leica separate these functions so that a coded lens can be documented (even if the aperture cannot) when the vignetting correction is turned off. Documenting the lens in the exif file should not depend upon a vignetting correction switch.
