thompsonkirk Posted March 29, 2009 Share #5 Posted March 29, 2009 Agree with Marie-Loise & others: It's a marvelous comment on marriage-roles, & it's strengthened by the symmetry/asymmetry of the composition! Kirk

semrich Posted March 30, 2009 Share #11 Posted March 30, 2009 Martin, of all the photos that I've liked and commented on this week this one stands tall among them, Erwitt at his best. The square crop works well with it.

stuny Posted March 30, 2009 Share #14 Posted March 30, 2009 Martin - Excellent for moment, composition, detail and depth. Did you hang around to watch the man drink the rest of the day while the woman continued scraping, cauking and painting?
andym911 Posted March 30, 2009 Share #15 Posted March 30, 2009 Great, also the observation that she is working in the SUN and he is drinking in the SHADE, makes the scene all the more convincing. well done andy

Super shot, this one is - (talking about matrimonial projects: Mama is painting and Papa is having a LARGE beer ! LOL). BTW: Is this film or what...? Marie-Louise, of course it's for you too! The film was Ilford FP4 (M4-P/Summicron 35 IV). After a talk, he said he was drinking 3 liters per day of this strong and rustic red wine. Thank you for your comment.
