Advertisement Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Hi thompsonkirk, Take a look here Coffee clatch:. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted March 16, 2009 Share #2 Posted March 16, 2009 Kirk - Terrific moment, expressions, light, color and detail. I'd be tempted to try a crop, just to the left of the woman with her back to us.
MPerson Posted March 16, 2009 Share #3 Posted March 16, 2009 At first glimpse I thought that was Lauren Bacall. Well seen Kirk, they are in their own animated world.

thompsonkirk Posted March 17, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted March 17, 2009 Hi, Stuart - Here's a crop, as you suggested. I've been looking a lot at the Taschen book "Paris Mon Amour" - classic BW photography - & have been trying to learn to get something in the background or on the edge of the frame - which is what I was trying to do. But this is admittedly a better picture of the 'clatch' itself! K
andcolor Posted March 17, 2009 Share #6 Posted March 17, 2009 (edited) Good one Kirk. and on second look, I like that guy in the original crop. L Edited March 17, 2009 by andcolor
allamande Posted March 17, 2009 Share #7 Posted March 17, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Great shot. Actually, this is not just an American social institution, I'd say it is universal! BTW, you have another institution going in that original shot: the guy who is watching "the birds." I would definitely keep him in the shot! vdb Posted March 17, 2009 Share #8 Posted March 17, 2009 I initially agreed with Stuart, but after seeing both versions prefer the first version. Well done.
