Advertisement Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Hi Irishimage, Take a look here Into the Light. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
vla Posted March 8, 2009 Share #2 Posted March 8, 2009 wonderful composition - simple yet powerful! i really like how the different graphical elements (doors, window, sunlight and shadow) link together. reminds me of an image by cartier-bresson i saw on the magnum webpage some time ago. btw - i only have one suggestion for improvement - to me the black frame around the door sucks away way too much energy. maybe some cropping would do ... markus PAR45088
stuny Posted March 8, 2009 Share #3 Posted March 8, 2009 I almost agree with Markus. I too find is excellent, but the black frame doesn't bother me. However, since my monitor is only 17 inches, the image is too large to view without scrolling. I'd prefer a height no greater than 580 pixels. Irishimage Posted March 9, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted March 9, 2009 Thank you both, Markus and Stuart for your comments and observations .. much appreciated. I was a little reluctant to crop the dark surroundings so as not to squeeze too much the passageway from the darkness into the light. But will give it a try as you suggest. samwells Posted March 11, 2009 Share #7 Posted March 11, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Noel: That's a wonderful, rather mystical shot...I like the way the two vertical dark rectangles of the door and window in the background are echoed by the horizontal rectangle of the stone container below. Lovely contrast of different textures, too. cheers: Sam

shutterhack Posted March 13, 2009 Share #9 Posted March 13, 2009 This is so well composed and the play with the textures and shadows and the geometric shapes are so creatively done, a sure fav of mine.
backwater Posted March 13, 2009 Share #10 Posted March 13, 2009 I am instantly reminded of a lyric line by Bob Dylan: The courtyard of the jester is hidden from the sun… I like the image as is. There are portals and corners of mystery everywhere. Great picture!

steve kessel Posted March 18, 2009 Share #16 Posted March 18, 2009 Noel Very drawn to this, probably by the rectangles of door and window in background which gets the whole thing going and makes it special. Very well done. Steve
