robsteve Posted October 23, 2006 Share #1 Posted October 23, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is it possible to try high ISO M8 files like Sean Reid posted in his review files in another processor to see if they get better? I shot some 1600iso hockey a few nights ago with my DMR and was surprised how well Lightroom did with the files. To see if it wasn't just my imagination, I processed the same file through Adobe Camera RAW with the same settings as LightRoom. These settings were the basic default settings of sharpen 25, smooth 0 and denoise 25. The two files are shown below. The full frame shot was with Lightroom and then sharpening in Phtoshop. The bottom of the 100% crops is the Lightroom processed file. I did not use Noise Ninja on any of the images. Welcome, dear visitor! fotografr Posted October 24, 2006 Share #2 Posted October 24, 2006 Just to get this straight, the bottom 100% crop is Lightroom and the 100% crop just above it is Photoshop? If that's the case, the Photoshop image looks quite a bit cleaner to me.
robsteve Posted October 24, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted October 24, 2006 Brent, you have it right, the lightroom is the bottom picture. I am looking at the helmet, just above the visor. The Nike logo on the jersey also looks a bit sharper too.
robsteve Posted October 24, 2006 Author Share #4 Posted October 24, 2006 Here is a better section of the file to look at. Black uniforms have always been difficult under the odd lighting you get in arenas. Keep in mind, this is 1600iso and is typically unusable on the DMR. The first image is Adobe Camera Raw. The second is Lightroom. The third Lightroom and Noise Ninja applied. The fourth, the Lightroom image with Noise Ninja auto profile and a resize and smartsharpen. Welcome, dear visitor!
