Mauribix Posted January 31, 2009 Share #1 Posted January 31, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi guys, this is a question for those of you who actually own more than just one lens. How many times did you find yourself shooting with just one lens, carryin no other lens with you than the one on your camera? And, in the case it happened frequently, did you mainly opt for a WideAngle (12 to 28mm) or a Normal (35 to 50) lens on your M8? Thanks Maurizio
Advertisement Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Hi Mauribix, Take a look here Curiosity... one lens. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
don_panko Posted January 31, 2009 Share #2 Posted January 31, 2009 We recently made a trip to Tuscany and I only took a 21mm lens for the M8. It was perfect for landscapes and cityscapes which is what I wanted while my wife captured the vacation highlights with her camera. I would do it again for travel as a wide lens on the M8 is an ideal combination.
earleygallery Posted January 31, 2009 Share #3 Posted January 31, 2009 I often just take my M2 and 35, or lllf and 25 if I'm purely street shooting.
hx911 Posted January 31, 2009 Share #4 Posted January 31, 2009 28mm/f2 !!! when trying this with either the 35f1.4 nokton or the 21/f4 I keep saying "...I should have brought ...." when using the 28 'cron I just take pictures ...
JWW Posted January 31, 2009 Share #5 Posted January 31, 2009 35mm summicron v4. Small and light.
icqcq Posted January 31, 2009 Share #6 Posted January 31, 2009 My father was once appalled to hear, upon my return from a two week road trip, that I had carried nothing but a 20mm. The fewer decisions to be made while shooting, the more shooting will be done. The 28 is the stock lens for the M6ttl, the 21 for the M8. Bo_Lorentzen Posted January 31, 2009 Share #7 Posted January 31, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Maurizio, 28mm or 35mm on the M8, definitely 35mm on the M6. Pretty sure I take both more and better pictures when I leave the bag at home.. tend to get distracted by choices. Guess Im a simple person. The truth is that when I have one lens, I tend to work with that lens, but if there is choices in lenses, then I start thinking about what lens might be better.... . stnolan Posted January 31, 2009 Share #8 Posted January 31, 2009 almost always. 35 summi v4
giordano Posted January 31, 2009 Share #9 Posted January 31, 2009 Often. I take M8 + 35 Summicron most places I go; other gear only when I expect I'll need it.
andybarton Posted January 31, 2009 Share #10 Posted January 31, 2009 I regularly leave the house with only the 35 or 50 Summicron
lct Posted January 31, 2009 Share #11 Posted January 31, 2009 No M8 sorry. I usually bring 3 lenses (28/50/90 with FF, 21/28/50 with APS-C) but when i bring one lens only it is generally a 50 (FF), or a 35 or 40 (APS-C). So i must be a normal guy i guess. NZDavid Posted January 31, 2009 Share #12 Posted January 31, 2009 Usually 24, 35 or 50. Good to think, where am I going, what am I doing -- light and simple is a boon. A leather waist pouch, though, easily accommodates two extra lenses.
gwelland Posted January 31, 2009 Share #13 Posted January 31, 2009 I use either the 28 'cron ASPH or 35 'cron ASPH with the M8. 35 'cron ASPH or 50 'lux with the M7.
Marquinius Posted January 31, 2009 Share #14 Posted January 31, 2009 If only one, then a 35mm on M8. And indeed, one lens = no discussion = work with what you have = think more about what you want to achieve. 21mm is just a little too wide for me, even for landscapes. I have a 15mm and I really almost never use it. Got a 50mm 1.4 I love and also use regularly. Marco
Guest wls.shanghai Posted January 31, 2009 Share #15 Posted January 31, 2009 ....why curiosity... for me - this is standard usually I leave the house with one lens only. summicron 35 oder summicron 50 and with film (full size sensor) Regards wls
phc Posted January 31, 2009 Share #16 Posted January 31, 2009 Don't have an M8 (what's the standard lens on an M8? About 35mm?) but I only ever use 50s on my film Ms. I can spend more time shooting and less time worry about gear. As icqcq says, the fewer decisions I have to make, the better. Of course I'm not saying everyone should work like this! Cheers, Paul.
luigi bertolotti Posted January 31, 2009 Share #17 Posted January 31, 2009 When it happens, 35 Summicron, but is rare, mostly for the Summaron 28 or Cv15 that are really pocketable even in "normal" dressing.
antistatic Posted January 31, 2009 Share #18 Posted January 31, 2009 If I go out with only one it is usually the 35mm cron asph for me (on film). Something about the relative compact size and the cool square hood, oh and I almost forgot, it also takes good photos.
christer Posted January 31, 2009 Share #19 Posted January 31, 2009 I have 15mm, 35mm, 50mm and 90mm plus two M7 bodies. Best combination 35cron and the two M7s
icqcq Posted January 31, 2009 Share #20 Posted January 31, 2009 Christer: Are you carrying one lens and two bodies? Or 35crons mounted on both?
