m410 Posted July 15, 2019 Share #18824 Posted July 15, 2019 (edited) Dirk, How about Turkey or Cyprus? Thanks for the photograph. jDD Edited July 15, 2019 by jDD-m410
otto.f Posted July 15, 2019 Share #18825 Posted July 15, 2019 This should be somewhere near Sevilla, no? Italica?
Dirk Van der Herten Posted July 15, 2019 Share #18826 Posted July 15, 2019 We're not in Turkey or Cyprus. But Italica is an excellent guess, it's only about 200 km from this location.
stuny Posted July 15, 2019 Share #18827 Posted July 15, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was thinking of Conimbriga in Portugal. When there we were astounded that some fool stood on one of the mosaics, posing for a photo. We shouted at them which brought a guard. The guard ejected them from the site. Dirk Van der Herten Posted July 15, 2019 Share #18828 Posted July 15, 2019 Good guess. The archaeological site in question is in Portugal indeed, Stuart, though not Conimbriga. Go 400 km. south, and the PM's will be waiting for you. The site, small but beautiful, is not famous, so relatively few people visit, decreasing the chance of visitors doing strange things. stuny Posted July 15, 2019 Share #18829 Posted July 15, 2019 Perhaps Milreu?
Dirk Van der Herten Posted July 15, 2019 Share #18830 Posted July 15, 2019 You're almost there. Go another 25 km. west.

Hello Stuart, Why was it inappropriate for people to walk on the mosaics? Could you tell us something about them? Best Regards, Michael
stuny Posted July 21, 2019 Share #18834 Posted July 21, 2019 Michael - They were about 2000 years old found in a digs displayed in situ with low barriers to keep people off them to help preserve them. You can see some of the barrier in the upper left. There were signs, too, but the barriers should be enough to keep people away unless overcome by selfishness, senselessness, narcissism or some combination of the three. Welcome, dear visitor!
