Advertisement Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Hi noriko_miyazaki, Take a look here "Do you know the world ?" -- Competition --. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
FPB Posted February 1, 2013 Share #11402 Posted February 1, 2013 Noriko, the name of the historical person you have been asking for: is that Miki Paul ? Bill

vertekijker Posted February 2, 2013 Share #11404 Posted February 2, 2013 Is it someone from the world of government? Or from the world of culture? ------------- Frans
FPB Posted February 2, 2013 Share #11405 Posted February 2, 2013 Another try: is it Tononaga Shimichiro ? Bill
noriko_miyazaki Posted February 2, 2013 Share #11406 Posted February 2, 2013 Another hint. The person we're looking for is a statesman. His memorial, shown in the first image above, is located in a temple in the north of Kyoto. The temple garden is small, but famous for its colourful autumn leaves, as shown on many photos that come up in Google images.
FPB Posted February 2, 2013 Share #11407 Posted February 2, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Another try after your hints: Higashikuni Naruhiko Bill
noriko_miyazaki Posted February 2, 2013 Share #11408 Posted February 2, 2013 It's not Higashikuni Naruhiko, Bill, but a person who lived several centuries earlier. If you look for the location first, you will find the person much faster. The area of Kyoto where to look is not far from the Shisen-do temple. As Leicabraz wrote a few posts before, you know the world if you know the hints
FPB Posted February 2, 2013 Share #11409 Posted February 2, 2013 Noriko, now I got a bit hooked on that.... Not easy though. Is it the Enko-ji temple and then TOKUGAWA Ieyasu ? Bill
noriko_miyazaki Posted February 2, 2013 Share #11410 Posted February 2, 2013 Fantastic, yes, we were looking for Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate, and the Enkoji temple. A bit more explanation, on a sign outside of the Enkoji: Welcome, dear visitor! FPB Posted February 2, 2013 Share #11411 Posted February 2, 2013 Thank you Noriko. After enough hints had accumulated it was possible to solve. But not in times pre-www ! Many images of beautiful gardens showed up in that search, interesting. Now, going back in history much further, two famous persons: Adam and Eve. Where do they pick apples ? We search for a sightseeing attraction, a garden. And all the different apple trees in that garden are there for a particular reason related to that region of the country. Bill Welcome, dear visitor! FPB Posted February 2, 2013 Share #11413 Posted February 2, 2013 Olsen, yes, it is in Europe. Bill
Michael Geschlecht Posted February 2, 2013 Share #11414 Posted February 2, 2013 Hello Bill, Well, if I were Adam & we wanted a nice place with apples to live in: Eve I would probably choose some place in Normandy. Unless we wanted to live in a City. If we were in Normandy & decided to live in a City we would probably choose Offenbach. Best Regards, Michael
FPB Posted February 3, 2013 Share #11415 Posted February 3, 2013 Hello Michael, your choices sound interesting, but unfortunately do not fit here. It is not that close to a coast like in the Normandy, and no real "city" is around the corner. The key to finding the location of this garden is to find out which kind of relation apples have to that particular region in the country we are in. Apple trees can be standing everywhere, but what might distinguish this region from other regions in Europe ? BTW, this garden shows much more than apple trees, they are just a small part, but very typical for this region. Food for thought.... larsv Posted February 3, 2013 Share #11417 Posted February 3, 2013 Has this a connection to cider?
FPB Posted February 3, 2013 Share #11418 Posted February 3, 2013 Michael, no, not an island. This "apple-connected" area has two valleys that meet near the garden. And is located far away from any coast. And the area is visited by millions of tourists every year. Olsen was so right when he asked for Europe. Because as a Norwegian he was most likely thinking of New Zealand when talking about apples... Later today I'll post a picture of the garden. Best regards Bill
FPB Posted February 3, 2013 Share #11419 Posted February 3, 2013 Has this a connection to cider? Hello Lars, I think no. You can get cider there, but it is not known for its cider. A short Google search also did not reveal any hint for a "cider connection". I'm not an expert in that field Best Bill
