Dirk Van der Herten Posted August 24, 2010 Share #5084 Posted August 24, 2010 The Town Hall of Middelburg in the Netherlands (Zeeland)?----------- Frans You have an eye for detail, Frans, I'm impressed. Your turn.
vertekijker Posted August 24, 2010 Share #5085 Posted August 24, 2010 You have an eye for detail, Frans, I'm impressed.Your turn. Coming from you that's quite a compliment, Dirk, thank you! Arigato gozaimasu! I have played this game for quite a while now and love this kind of detective work, as I know you do as well. I sometimes feel a bit anxious that I won't find any new photographs to post, that is why I now carry my camera with me to every town I visit and make sure I can take a few suitable pics for this game. Actually, I'm for a few days in Knokke right now, not so far from Middelburg. I'll look for a new picture. Just a sec. ---------- Frans
vertekijker Posted August 24, 2010 Share #5086 Posted August 24, 2010 There is not such a choice of pictures in my laptop as in my iMac at home, but I fortunately found something. Where are we now? A full translation of the inscription gives you extra points! ------------ Frans Welcome, dear visitor! JanCderidder Posted August 25, 2010 Share #5089 Posted August 25, 2010 No idea where this is but the translation is; "Potsomis, stop feeding your felines fish from my pond, the Nile is only a 5 minute walk, you lazy bastard"
adli Posted August 25, 2010 Share #5090 Posted August 25, 2010 Looks to me as The Obelisk of Tuthmosis III, which, as Ferdinand wrote, is lokated in Istanbul.
Dirk Van der Herten Posted August 25, 2010 Share #5091 Posted August 25, 2010 I vote for Ferdinand, too. The cartouche of Menkheperre (= Tuthmosis III), clearly visible on Frans' photo, betrays the location. The translation can be found on Comcast "Horus, Strong Bull Appearing in Thebes, Two Ladies, Enduring of kingship, like Re in the sky, Golden Horus, Sacred of appearances, powerful of strength, King of Upper and Lower Egypt, Menkheperre, Chosen of Re. He made (it) as his monument to his father Amon-Re, Lord of the thrones of the Two Lands, he raised (...)."

Very impressive that you discovered who that cartouche belongs to and worked your way from there. ---------------- Frans Edited August 25, 2010 by vertekijker

Yes indeed, the Obelisk of Tuthmosis III, erected in 390 AD in Istanbul. ------------- Frans Welcome, dear visitor!
