dcoombs Posted August 17, 2010 Share #5004 Posted August 17, 2010 Statue of St Francis, Assisi You've got it! The Basilica of St. Francis Assisi is just to the right, out of the picture. This statue, created by Norberto from Spello, just south of Assisi, is reputed to be of the young Francis returning home from military campaign (although I can't confirm that). More usual shots show the statue from the side with the facade of the church in the background. Your turn! Doug
etibeti Posted August 17, 2010 Share #5005 Posted August 17, 2010 You are right to be looking at the architecture, but think further south (and east). Doug Your hint was a little bit misleading! Assisi is further north than Catalunia! Andreas
dcoombs Posted August 17, 2010 Share #5006 Posted August 17, 2010 Your hint was a little bit misleading!Assisi is further north than Catalunia! Andreas I guess you're right. I didn't look on a globe. Somehow I've always thought of Italy being on the same latitude as Spain and then comparing northern Spain to central Italy. Hope this didn't throw you too far off base. adli Posted August 18, 2010 Share #5010 Posted August 18, 2010 Far off, but if you know the story of these hangars it is not a bad thought. Hint: If you find out where we are, it is much easier to find out what these hangars are used for.

adli Posted August 18, 2010 Share #5014 Posted August 18, 2010 That is correct, these hangars are are the Riga Central market, one of Europes largest markets. The hangars were constructed in 1924-1930 and are made with reuse metal frameworks from WWI German Zeppelin hangars. The construction has been included in UNESCO World Heritage Site list.
