Michael Hiles Posted August 14, 2010 Share #4981 Posted August 14, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hmmmm. I haven't been there, so this is a guess based on a very little knowledge of John Muir. Glacier Bay?
Advertisement Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Hi Michael Hiles, Take a look here "Do you know the world ?" -- Competition --. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
gearoido Posted August 14, 2010 Share #4982 Posted August 14, 2010 Michael, Glacier Bay is right. The whole area in the picture was a glacier when Muir visited. The glaciers in Southern Alaska are melting back about two feet a day. We go most years and can easily see their shrinking. We visited Mount Ranier National Park last month and were astonished at how much Nisqually glacier had retreated. When I worked at Paradise in 1957 you could see the terminus of Nisqually from the road as you drove up to Paradise. Now it is a valley filled with moraine. Your turn again GaryO

geaibleu Posted August 15, 2010 Share #4986 Posted August 15, 2010 From the shape of the fishing boat and its equipment for fishing anchovies at night it should be close to the Mediterranean sea perhaps close to the French-spanish border.

dcoombs Posted August 17, 2010 Share #5000 Posted August 17, 2010 You're quite warm. It's a destination, not a hideaway, as you can see by the touristas in the background. (That's a big hint.) Doug
