Digilux 2 EVF vs other EVFs ?

Hopefully I am not braking any posting rules - if so just remove this thread and accept my apologies in advance :o

I recently acquired the Digilux 2 and (apart from the wonderful jpeg output and handling) have been extremely positively surprised by the EVF. Getting this camera has finally ended my lust for a Sigma DP1, but not the need for a more portable digital camera with zoom to complement my Ricoh GRD.

After much consideration I am leaning towards the GX100 for its handling, square format possibility, lowish price now and the EVF. However, the latter is something I am unsure of and since unable to see it physically I wonder if anybody has tried the GX100 EVF and can compare it to the Digilux 2's?

thanks in advance,

karspoul

K, you should be aware of the evf lag in the D2. It takes the camera a little bit of time to take the picture, once you click the shutter. Thus, what you were seeing in the evf when you *thought* you made the picture is not the image that will be captured.

This is a problem for action shots but not for landscapes.

You can easily compensate for this, but it means you give up looking at the image the camera is presenting to you.

Congratulations on your purchase. It's a great camera.

I fully agree with your last four words but..... yawn; only if you treat it like an all-auto point and shoot. Used like one would treat a "real Leica" i.e.meter reading, pre-focus, etc. it has an instant shutter. How many times do I have to repeat this? For close-up motor-sports it is my weapon of choice (because of the excellent EVF), my Bank Manager would support me in this assertion.

Que Dugby to repeat the same old crap........... yawn............
