I have had mine since last September and have loved every minute. It has reinvigorated my interest in photography by getting me back to the mechanics of the shot, and not being lost in the world of auto everything.

The camera has performed flawlessly (touch wood) and I am looking forward all the way.

mate, can't be said any better than that. leo

Bought one of the first and no problems, no issues. Went over on a tripod once, picked it up dusted it off, no dents, no scratches, keeps working flawlessly. Renewed my interest in photography and because of one of the issues so widely criticized (IR sensitivity) allowed me a new direction in creativity. Would buy a second body if I could afford it.:D

This is a thread devoted to anyone who has had no issues with their M8 cameras. We always get the bad on this forum, now lets get the good (please no ugly).

Congratulations Wilfredo. Unlike me, you've got it right. Some weeks ago I suggested a separate forum for the sole use of the moaners and whingers, who at times seem to be in a majority - far better to devote a thread to the happy breed of M8 owners, of whom I am pleased to be one. First my M8 and now my M8.2 have been nothing but a pleasure to use. Of course, we can look forward to future improvements - the technology is not going to stand still - but let's for heaven's sake appreciate what we already have.

2 bodies, one November 2006, one January 2007, no significant problems in at least 17500 exposures.(except, of course, *the* recall in December 2006). Only returned for upgrades and one impact damage. Very happy with the service too.

Oh man, I so wish I could be part of this thread. But some of us get dealt the raw hand - it's inevitable. But like Wilson I'm not so chuffed that I've had a few issues with my M8 (and the first one needed out and out replacement) but that service couldn't deal with it in a timely and competent manner. That said I've put close to 20,000 clicks on my M8 and have just bought a second one used. It's a unique image making machine and my .58X M7 sits sadly idle.

Flawless M8.2 so far.

Biggest attraction is the immediacy of the camera, while keeping it a basic image capture device without turbo charged anything.

Love how I can switch from film M to digital M and have the same basic operation without having to readjust my mind for a different type of camera.

One M8 for 2 years.

Initially I was a bit disapointed about the ISO-performance, but now I really don't care. I still get the lock-up if I shoot to fast. All in all I love this little camera. It's so small that I bring it everywhere. My 1Ds never goes with me because it's too big - what use is a camera in your closet? For many years I have been a 50mm-boy with SLR's, so I started out with the 35mm lux. Now I have added the 24mm elmarit, which I now prefer (though it's still nice to have @1,4).

I like the low-pace with the M8, and I am now thinking about adding a MP with some TRI-X.

.... ahh hang on, some folk say that buying a 5k camera you should expect 100% continuity, should not have spots and stripes let alone total failures .... I agree with that, but reading this forum often I just say it doesn't happen often, speaking with my favorite dealer he says "yeah every now and then" ....

who am I kidding, M8's are a real quality product....

what do I say now "Whahahahahahaha" or go into further statistics?

Leica service is excellent, I really mean that .... anything electronic from Leica though is absolute sh+t.

And for all you apologists ... look beyond the length of your nose!

True, I didn't buy my M8, it was a present from my father so maybe I'm more "open" to discuss these things since I didn't invest multi $ in my setup, but would I of had to pay for it myself I would of been very very angry... And then to read excuses like "ahh well when one is broken I use the other one" ... this is not the normal performance of any camera, except the M8, of course I'm happy that when I send it back I get additionals at no cost, but the fact I have to send it back 1,5 times on a yearly basis (on average) this freaks me out, and this for such an expensive "thing" .... can't believe people are happy with this.

well, even though i have had many issues with my m8 i would not give it up for anything - except perhaps for a new one. i even called today about getting on the waiting list for the upgrades (rangefinder mask).

the way i see it, my m8 has paid for itself many times over. there are so many photos that i never would have made without it. or perhaps i would have taken but never seen or discovered on my contact sheets / negatives.

just waiting for the m9 or for leica to say it's never coming so i can justify the new 24mm f1.4 lens.

if anyone wants to see some of the miscellaneous non-work related photos that i have taken with it, check out my flickr feed - most are with the m8 - Flickr: aaronleefineman's Photostream

I've had my M8 for over a year now, bought a 2nd M8 mid 2008 and then sold that for an M8.2. Touch wood no problems and I've dragged mine all over some of the most remote parts of Africa. Treat it with respect as you would any other expensive piece of equipment and it shouldn't let you down.

I love the fact that I'm in control of how I'm shooting, by far my favorite camera!
