Advertisement Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Hi liammok, Take a look here D-Lux4 + Sigma Lens Hood. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ho_co Posted January 6, 2009 Share #2 Posted January 6, 2009 Can't answer directly. The only thing that might help you decide is something you probably already know: the adapter that screws onto the lens mount ends at the front in a 46 mm thread. I don't have the adapter, but I read somewhere that it ends even with the front of the lens when the lens is fully extended in wide-angle position. (The lens pulls back into the camera as it goes toward telephoto.) The Sigma hood definitely looks as if it's the right design, doesn't it? Do you have any information on the size of the Sigma adapter and whether it has a thread in the neighborhood of 46mm? I'll let you know if I can find out anything more. Good luck. And keep us posted! asoares Posted January 8, 2009 Share #4 Posted January 8, 2009 Hi, Here is the outfit of my D-LUX 4. The lens hood is for Pana LX3, was bought on eBay (about 8 euro), the material is metal. You can see a 52mm Rodenstock UV filter attached. I should say that it already saved my day. In a recent trip to Marrakech the camera fell from the waist level into a solid tiled ground (at the medina while I was bargaining... :-). The "only" consequences were two small crushes and scratches, one near the flash and the other on the UV filter... Regards, Antonio
Bo_Lorentzen Posted January 8, 2009 Share #5 Posted January 8, 2009 Personally I think Antonio's solution looks pretty good and well put together. I did one on the laser, this is a shot of the first prototype still with blue tape on it. the object of this prototype was to get a close crop on the hood, and I made it as close as possible while keeping the image ratio. Its pressure fit to the collar, so far it have worked great, but surely is not a beauty. email me if you want one.

Saludos a todos desde Andalucia. johnwolf Posted January 13, 2009 Share #9 Posted January 13, 2009 liammok, did you determine if the Sigma adapter will work? I guess the back end would have to be a standard 46mm female. Let us know if you have an answer. The Sigma adapter and hood look very nice. -- John

Stranger things have happened, though...
USA road racer Posted January 14, 2009 Share #11 Posted January 14, 2009 I just ordered a lense hood & sunshade for my DLux4 from West Coast Cameras. $50 USD and it takes 52MM filters. The large size should take care of any vignetting issues. The sunshade is a pedal type. It's made of aluminum. When it arrives, I'll post some photos to show "with and without" side by side comparisons.
chrisbo Posted January 19, 2009 Share #12 Posted January 19, 2009 I've ordered a Sigma DP1 lens hood and a replacement Panasonic LX3 lens ring to experiment with mounting the Sigma hood on a D-Lux 4. I'll let you know how it turns out.
carylwithay Posted January 20, 2009 Share #13 Posted January 20, 2009 I found a place called: Lensmate - Specialty Digital Photo Products that says they will have a filter by the end of Jan. The photo on their site makes it look like an ordinary filter that does not change the profile of the camera. The other adapters are too large and make the camera no longer pocket size, let alone a bit ugly. Caryl
