alexc Posted January 6, 2009 Share #1 Posted January 6, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just tried dlux 4 and noticed a lot of noise when shooting RAW with ISO 100 on a sunny day. I did not have this with dlux 3. Checked the settings and noticed that NR is 0. Is this a problem? What NR setting do you use? Thank you in advance. Advertisement Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Hi alexc, Take a look here noise reduction setting in dlux 4. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Richard D Posted January 6, 2009 Share #2 Posted January 6, 2009 I'm hoping you will have answers from more advanced photographers in this forum, but I did want to get the ball rolling for you. I also have a D-Lux 4 and get much lower noise (read: almost non-existent) at 100 ISO than I did with my Panasonic LX1. It's quite usable at ISOs to 400, at least. That's one of the reasons that I love it so much. I believe the Panasonic LX1 and LX2 have similar noise levels to your D-Lux3.
Richard D Posted January 6, 2009 Share #3 Posted January 6, 2009 I forgot to add that since you mentioned you're shooting RAW, I don't believe setting the NR in the camera will have any effect. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure NR in the camera (or other similar settings) will only affect your jpegs.
