Rolo Posted January 5, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted January 5, 2009 VdB, Tim & DrM Thanks for your kind comments. Appreciated. The goal of this image was to emphasise the GR so that it pops out. Didn't quite happen like that, but then a tram arrived, so the purpose changed somewhat. Nice one! I never get those tones. Any hints? DrM - I generally make dark images, but use the curves tool to bring back the level of highlights I desire. As for the colour tone, make the image dark & sepia and desaturate to your preferred level and modify the contrast to finish. Hope that helps. biglouis Posted January 5, 2009 Share #7 Posted January 5, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Rolo Another well observed and excellently captured study. You are inspiring me to consider how I can exploit the urban work I do with a b&w eye rather than a colour one. LouisB
Rolo Posted January 5, 2009 Author Share #8 Posted January 5, 2009 Rolo Another well observed and excellently captured study. You are inspiring me to consider how I can exploit the urban work I do with a b&w eye rather than a colour one. LouisB Stuart, Louis - many thanks for your kind comments. Louis, I can solve that mystery for you easily. Use your M8 to capture the images. If they don't work 100% in colour, work bloody hard to do a credible conversion into monochrome. There is of course another more expedient way. Rolo

Rolo You do realise that I'm now going to have to walk every mile of the tram track until I find this? But not in Rastaland, Owdham or Blackers. I reckon not too far from t'dilly. Have you got your MP yet ? Walk the tram track by all means, but keep your eyes and ears open. You'll find a piece of pink gum that acts as a marker. Ask Falstaff, he can't contain his excitement. We'll be out there this weekend, so you might bump into us. Rolo
Michael Hiles Posted January 6, 2009 Share #14 Posted January 6, 2009 Nice picture. I like the juxtaposition between the GR and the very modern bus. Any idea which George? I'd bet V by the somewhat Art Deco feel of the grill.

I'm working this week-end in Manchester, give me a shout if you are around, I could possibly sneak an hour off off between machine lifts.
