nealf Posted January 5, 2009 Share #1 Posted January 5, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) In late summer of 1863 this 8 inch Parrott Rifle, the Swamp Angel, fired 36 rounds of incendiary shells into the city of Charleston South Carolina, not at a military target but at the civilian population of the city where the Civil War started. It was purely an act of terror. The gun is now preserved in Cadwalader park in Trenton NJ.
Advertisement Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Hi nealf, Take a look here Terror Weapon. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andit Posted January 5, 2009 Share #2 Posted January 5, 2009 It is so sad that mankind has never learnt from events such as this. The targeting of civilians took on new meanings in the time after that, and still thrives today (particularly in Africa - Dafur, Congo, Rwanda, Zimbabwe etc). Great composition, color and detail. Thanks for sharing. Andreas
