In preparation for the invasion of Great Britain during World War 2, immense effort was put into building a range of anti invasion defences including the most famous, the Pillbox. This abstract focuses on a gun slit in a Pillbox which was built as part of the GHQ Stop Line, the section known as the Blue or Ironside Line, and is one of a number of defences found along the Kennet and Avon Canal.
