Sam J. Samaha Posted January 2, 2009 Share #1 Posted January 2, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all again! First thanks all for the help with my prior issue with importing from my SDHC card.. indeed it was a matter of getting a card reader as the camera itself will not directly import to my Mac. My new question relates to the audio/tone option in the menu's for the M8.2. I set mine to make a "loud" tone and played around with the settings and I cannot get my camera to make a peep! I know the built in speaker works because when I tried to shoot with the bottom off, it did beep at me. Anyone else having this issue? Is it user error on my end or a problem in the firmware? thanks Sam
Advertisement Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Hi Sam J. Samaha, Take a look here No audio or keyclick?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
johnastovall Posted January 2, 2009 Share #2 Posted January 2, 2009 I would considered that a feature. First thing I do with any digital camera is turn off all sound effects.
farnz Posted January 2, 2009 Share #3 Posted January 2, 2009 Sam, Let me get my head around this: you've bought the M8.2, which is significantly more expensive than the M8 and has been specifically designed to have as quiet a shutter as possible - and you want it to beep loudly?? SJP Posted January 2, 2009 Share #5 Posted January 2, 2009 click - beep - beep ..................WHIRRR.. BEEP (delayed recocking stealth mode)
marknorton Posted January 2, 2009 Share #6 Posted January 2, 2009 Along with the USB socket, I think the audible beep is one of the most irrelevant features of the M8. Mine is switched off and the last time I tried it, it barely worked anyway.
Sam J. Samaha Posted January 3, 2009 Author Share #7 Posted January 3, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Guys I don't care so much to use it, as much as I am concerned that IT DOESN'T WORK! Is it too much to ask for an answer to my question and not a judgement on my use or lack thereof of the feature?
farnz Posted January 3, 2009 Share #8 Posted January 3, 2009 ... Is it too much to ask for an answer to my question and not a judgement on my use or lack thereof of the feature? Fair enough, Sam, but I'm afraid I can't help because I've never used it. In the two or so years since the M8's arrival I also can't recall another thread raising the same question, so no help there either. Pete. Red Dot Posted January 3, 2009 Share #9 Posted January 3, 2009 Sam for what it is worth. I just tried the audio on my one month old 8.2 and she did not speak to me. Regards, George

earleygallery Posted January 3, 2009 Share #12 Posted January 3, 2009 Any ideas how I can get my M2 to go beep? At the moment I'm covering for myself by just saying "beep" every now and then.

James, 'According to Puts', the M2 was released before beeps were invented so you may be stuck with your modern oral rendition. Or I can offer you the machine that goes "ping". Pete.
