I thought the pana's is from plastics too ?

That's my understanding, too. If it's really metal, I'd prefer the Panasonic version anyway. It looks less cumbersome. Even at almost half the price however, it still seems crazy to be charging that much for a galilean-type finder. I haven't decided yet if one is in my future. And as far as the handgrip is concerned, I rarely use the one I bought for my M6. Especially on the d-lux 4, it seems counter-productive to the main reason I bought the camera- its diminutive size.

I'm the exact opposite. I have an Abrahamsson Rapidgrip on my M7, and would like the grip for the D-Lux 4 to improve handling for my large hands.

: ) well, after having strechted myself out for the DL4, I stumbled across a dealer who had the Leice grip in stock. It goes very well with the camera as it does give one a more secure grip and reduces smudging thr camera with ones fingers. I believe it goes well with the camera. also I found a lumix viewfinder in metal case but hesitated due to the price. A few days later I realized that the Lumix viewfinder is not such a bad deal after all, since in terms of price and esthetics it beats the socks off the Leica Viewfinder, and called the dealer to find out if he still had it in stock. It was gone!. After making a lot of phonecalls to Leica and panasonic, i eventually found a dealer who had the Lumix viewfinder. To make it short, if you find a dealer who has a Lumix viewfinder, tell him to reserve it for you as it might be gone by the time you get there.

So the Lumix viewfinder *IS* made of metal. When you have had it for awhile, would you mind letting us know your impressions of it? One may or may not be in my future. Thanks!

Difficult to answer as I have not seen the Leica Viewfinder except of curse on photos. However I can say that the Lumix Viewfinder feels very solid and it offers a clear crisp and accurate idea of what I want to photograph. I have no regrets in investing in this viewfinder. I could never justify opting for the Leica viewfinder, even if i was loaded with cash to burn. Also as the Lumix viewfinder complements the DL4 better than the Leica version.(my opinion) Sorry Leica.

Look it's a perfect match for the D-Lux 4 Titan with the Panasonic 24mm viewfinder DMW-VF1.

.

Looking at a picture of the bottom of the Leica Grip I see that it places the Tripod Thread centered with the lense which is the ideal location. I don't have my camera yet, but I believe it will help in handling and it looks cool.

The downside is that it will have to be removed to get at the memory card and battery.

It will also have to be removed for most of the cases I've seen available for the camera. Fortunately for me, I find the camera to be comfortable in my hands just the way it is.

Rich.

How is the grip attached / detached? Can you use a coin? Does it require a screwdriver?

Thanks,

John

It's got quite a nifty design. You can use a coin, but there is also a ridged wheel that controls the attachment screw (the slot for the coin is in this wheel). I find it can be hand tightened quite sufficiently using the wheel, so the coin slot (which would really give you leverage) is unnecessary.

Jeff.

Hallo! I bought the Leica viewfinder, which is made of plastic. I am very pleased with it, as it also has a frame for 35mm focalwidth. The handgrip makes the camera a lot easier to handle. Pity that the leathercase is to small to carry camera and handgrip mounted.

This is a Contax G-2 21mm finder on my D-Lux 4. It seems to be very close to the width of the frame at the 16x9 setting, which I prefer.
