Green line from light source

I finally got my first. Is there any solution for this when an off frame light source is desired?

Yes it is simple. Either place the light fully in the frame or fully out of the frame.

It is only when there is a bright light source right at the edge of the frame that this happens.

Yup, two solutions:

 

move the camera, or

 

adjust the mindset (hmm, surely the designer of this cathedral would have put that light right there)

Go a little wider and just crop down is another option, if you must have (or want) that framing.

Those are windows in Saint Peters, the Vatican. The light was beautiful!

I guess, since I got one of these green lines, that we'll have to add another process to our photography and take multiple, slightly differently framed pix when there are bright light sources at the periphery.

 

The nice thing about going back to take the shot again, is that you'll get to be in Italy again.

My absolute favourite country in all the world (that I've visited). The green stripes are sadly with us whether we like them or not and Leica, being Leica, don't seem to think it's an issue they should address. In reality, they don't happen that often.

this it really a pity ...light sources effects have always been leica strength both in shot and composition...should be so also with the m8
