Hi color chasers,

has anybody tried the camera profiles in LR2 within the development/calibration tab? I like the red tones much better with the calibrated setting.

Adobe standard profile from LR2:

Camera calibrated profile from LR2:

Any opinions?

Cheers,

P.S.

Interesting link: Adobe DNG profiles

My opinion is that your opinion is 'right on'!

Sometimes the reds are even better with C1 (DNG Neutral profile).

Not to mention the skin tones ... This seems to become my default setting.

Harald,

Just click on the link in original post of this thread. Then click on "Camera Prolies and....." in the lefthand colome, and follow instructions. You probably need to be logged in with Adobe.

I'm not sure they work with CS3, but I don't know. I do know they work with LightRoom 2.2.

Best,

Mitchell

Sorry for the sort-of broken link. The trailing "s" got lost somehow ...

corrected: DNG Profiles

Here's an article about Adobe's Profile Editor. They couldn't have been more precise about my situation ... :D

[..] Do you love our tools but prefer the colors from another raw converter [...]

CS3 honors the profiles as well as LR2. Very nice indeed.

Ivo

Hi Ed,

I have LR 2.2, and had to download the profiles before they showed up as an option in the Develope Module. Not to say I wasn't doing something wrong...

And while I gained the profiles, I lost the original default one which I liked on some images.

Best,

Mitchell

My mistake. The release camera profiles come with Adobe Camera RAW 5.2. Included in the ACR 5.2 ZIP download is the ACR 5.2 for 32bit and 64bit and CameraProfiles.exe.

These are the real Release versions of the camera profiles.

When installing them, running the .EXE file, they show in LR 2.

Funny but I never lost the default camera profiles that were installed on my system with any version of LR or ACR. For the M8 I have 3.6 and 4.4 along with the newer profiles.

I got them also in LR 2.2 after downloading the profile editor.

Now I am playing with creating profiles with a Colorchecker card....., only not sure about the required Kelvin settings.

Do you shoot in daylight and use 6500K or do you need 6500K light?

A follow up to this.

I have LR 2.2 installed on my work PC which does not have any current version of PS installed, it does have PS 6 installed but that is at least 6-7 years old.

I have all the profiles including the original 3.6 & 4.4 for the M8.

LR 2 also states when going to About Lightroom in the Help menu that I have ACR 5.2 installed. I never installed that as a stand alone program, PS Plugin.

Photon42, OP, and thompsonkirk: You say you like to use C1's "DNG neutral profile". I am having trouble finding this on the C1 profile list. Does it have another name. Could you supply the actual filename in the directory/folder where it lives (Program Files\Phase One\Capture One 4\Color Profiles\DSLR on Windows). Thanks.

If you have LR you automatically have ACR. It is the RAW developer of LR. 5.2 is the correct latest version for LR2 (and CS4)

Well I was of the opinion that LR didn't use ACR by name, it used just the engine from ACR in the develope module.

Not sure though as I think this was the first time I'd go to Help\About Lightroom.

If I had a older version of LR installed I could check on that but I don't.

I guess, Kirk's just referring to the "Leica M8 generic" profile. As I happen to have a Mac, I can't direct you to the proper profile's folder -- even though the path name given does sound good ...

Cheers
