The Ridgeway crosses 87 miles of southern England, an ancient track that follows the chalk ridge from Avebury to Ivinghoe Beacon (where it becomes the Icknield Way). Scattered along the way are many ancient monuments and the track is well used these days by walkers and cyclists. This section near Wayland's Smithy neolithic barrow was frozen today and the "semi contre jour" was shot into the freezing fog being burnt off by the sun (DLux 4).
