GMB Posted December 30, 2008 Share #1 Posted December 30, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry for this stupid question. The S24 comes with 2 transparent hoods, one to be used for wide angle lenses and the other for norma/tele lenses. I never figured out which is for what, and also could not find the information in the manual. Does anyone know this? One hood is uniform with several dots, the other has rings on it. Thanks. The one with the dots is a diffuser for use with wide angle lenses. The other is for telephoto lenses. Used without the add on is for normal lenses. GMB Posted December 30, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted December 30, 2008 Len, Many thanks and happy New Year. I once used the flash without hood and found it very harsh. Georg
ho_co Posted December 30, 2008 Share #4 Posted December 30, 2008 The SF24D flash does tend to be harsh at normal to close distances. Some users find this helpful: Get your SFILL!.
elansprint72 Posted December 30, 2008 Share #5 Posted December 30, 2008 I asked this question just a few weeks ago and already I'd forgotten the answer! I've just written their id's on the side with a CD marker pen.
Shadow Blaster Posted December 30, 2008 Share #6 Posted December 30, 2008 I just got a SF 24D as well and had the same question. On page 49 of the manual it lists the order # for each diffuser, which corresponds to the # on the diffuser itself. This way you can always tell which is which. Good luck! John S.
